New Bi-Partisan Task Force on Gun Violence Protection & Children’s Safetyby kruane January 23rd, 2013 Many of you have been asking what kind of action the General Assembly will be taking to limit gun violence, expand mental health coverage and enhance school security. To oversee these very important public policy issues the leaders of the General Assembly have created a bi-partisan task force on gun violence prevention and children’s safety. The bipartisan task force will be developing recommendations designed to reduce gun violence, enhance school safety and increase access to mental health care. You can stay updated on the actions taken by the task force by visiting their website atwww.cga.ct.gov/asaferconnecticut. The website also includes information on the task force’s membership and four scheduled public hearings, as well as a link for submitting online testimony. If you would like to submit testimony for the upcoming public hearings, you may bring a hard copy to the hearing in person, or email a copy to asaferconnecticut@cga.ct.gov. As testimony is received in person, or by email, it will also be made available for public review on the website.
